The Indian Institute of Metals has formed a trust “IIM Swarna Jayanti Endowment” in commemoration of the Golden Jubilee of the Institute in the year, 1996. A trust has been managing the funds with the support of IIM Head Quarters. <br> This trust aims to encourage, assist and extend the knowledge base in the field of metallurgy, materials science and engineering. <br> In pursuance of the aforesaid, and for the promotion of such educational and research activities, every Quarter of the year, the IIM Swarna Jayanti Endowment Trust Fund announces “SJEF GRANTS” for partial assistance to young scientists (including research scholars) to participate in International Conferences. SJEF is neither intended for attending conferences within India nor for applicants located outside India.<br>

A Grant, not exceeding Rs. 50,000/- will be awarded to the Selected Candidates as partial reimbursement of the cost being incurred by the Candidate towards visiting internationallocations for attending the Conferences, subject to submission of the requisite documents as would be intimated later by The Indian Institute of Metals.

Young Scientists for the award SJEF-PARTIAL GRANT are selected based on: <br><br> • Applicant’s age should be equal to or below 35 years (at the time of application)<br> • Academic credentials of the Applicant<br> • Applicant should submit the application 3 months before the conference<br> • Candidates should preferably hold an UG degree in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering. Applicants from other backgrounds will be considered only if they are currently pursuing a PhD in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering at a recognized institute. Applications not meeting this criterion will not be considered.<br> • Scientific quality of the submitted abstractby a candidate should only be related to Metallurgical Engineering/Materials Science and Engineering;<br> • Candidateshould preferably be enrolled as a Life Member of IIM;<br> • Once selected for the Partial Grant Reward, Candidates will not be entitled for the same any further.<br>

Applications can be submitted year-round by completing the Google Form and uploading the required documents - CV, submitted abstract, acceptance letter/paper, and the Bonafide certificate signed by the Competent Authorityin a single pdf file through the IIM website, Grants. Applications should be submitted preferably three months before the conference date, enabling the candidates to avail the Grant for attending the Conference. <br> Applications will be consideredfor assessment during the Council Year, specifically during August, October, December, February, April and June of every year.
